Conference Coordinator

The Halton Environmental Network (HEN) seeks to hire an assistant Conference Coordinator to support our annual Generation Green  youth conference and environmental leadership program. 

Generation Green is a program designed to engage Halton Youth and support their journey to becoming empowered climate leaders  and community climate champions. Through the Generation Green program, youth are provided the necessary tools to successfully  design and implement their own climate projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in their community and to encourage others to  do the same! The Generation Green program consists of three components: a Youth Conference, Student Climate Project, and a  Project Showcase event. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Active participation in planning meetings to provide input for program improvements, 
  • Management and organization of data collection and storage,  
  • Creating and compiling relevant metrics, reports, and program materials, 
  • Preparing communications on program milestones and outcomes, 
  • Researching potential event sponsors 
  • Developing communication plans to engage with potential sponsors  
  • Develop materials to be distributed to potential program participants/supporters 
  • Support program initiatives as required, based on organizational needs  

Preferred Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Experience in planning and logistics for large events 
  • Experience researching and approaching potential sponsors  
  • Strong interpersonal and professional communication skills 
  • Willingness to collaborate and work effectively with diverse community partners  
  • Motivated self-starter that is able to work independently as well as in a team environment 
  • Good problem-solving skills, creative mindset, flexible thinking 
  • Self-motivated with a positive and inclusive attitude 
  • Basic or advanced knowledge in one or more of the following areas: environmental issues, climate change action (mitigation and  adaptation), waste reduction, environmental stewardship, would be an asset 
  • Experience or network within the community of Halton

Requirements:

  • Youth must be between the ages of 15 and 30 at the start of their employment
  • Youth must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada, as per the Canada Summer Jobs funding requirements.
